living room makeover

Keeping a neutral palette means you can have fun with furnishings. Bold couches are such a fun way to inject vibrancy and personality into a space. For this room we did two matching sofas and a fun accent chair which just pop against the light walls and soft grey carpet.

If you’re not ready for colour on your walls think of introducing it in other ways and don’t be scared to mix n match. If you are scared to make a commitment, confused, or just overwhelmed with the options out there contact me, I’m here to help.

Before

This window was aligned to the left and unable to be altered so we worked with what we had. In order to gain privacy we put up these beautiful sheers which helped disguise the awkward alignment. We then had a double track with a beautiful linen blend stripe with thermal backing on the front track. This all pulls to the right again working with that off centre window. The black track with ball finial (end cap) pulls in with other elements in their home and leans into their farmhouse vibe which we’ll be working with more on their upcoming extension.

How does your home feel upon entry? What’s the first thing you see? Ask yourself that next time to step inside. Ask yourself how you want people to feel when they come into your home. Do you want to enter and feel energised or walk into a calm serene space? The colours and objects in your entrance set the tone for how you, and others, will feel in your whare.

My top tips for your entrance:
✨ Storage is key - a place for everything and everything in its place. Think key hooks or bowl (not that kind 😉) Shoe storage, so there isn’t a pile of chaos on entry.
✨ Add a piece of art you love that makes you smile when you come and go, it will set the vibe for how you want to feel.
✨ Alternately a mirror will make a small space feel bigger and is a handy quick check on your way out!
✨ Plants are always a good idea. They bridge the transition from outside in.
✨ Hate your flooring? Add a rug to bring texture and warmth to the space.
✨ Need a boost of energy? Add a bold colour you love, (like we did for this front door) whether that’s in the art or on a wall, Looking for calm? A fresh lick of neutral paint over that dated wallpaper, even if it’s a temporary fix, can instantly change how you feel about a space.
