in the mood…

Here are a selection of mood boards Candace has created for various clients to help them begin their renovation or new build adventure.

Getting in touch with a designer before you start on this journey is critical in ensuring you get a space that not only looks beautiful but best suits the daily needs of those inhabiting the space.

Candace can help you design the layout and bring the esthetics together for a space that will best reflect the people living there.

This client was renovating the bedroom that is shared by her two sons - 2 and 12! This room needed to be a restful space that functions well for both boys, that can grow with them as they do. The room is very small so we already decided on bunk beds during the consult as her younger child is about to be finished with his crib and transition into a bed. The room is also right on the street side of the house so the window finishings were very important. The room currently had slatted blinds that were always set so that people couldn’t see in, but although the house has central heating, wasn’t very warm overnight for the kids. We decided on sheers with thermal backing on a double track, this allows plenty of light to come in while giving plenty of privacy to the occupants as well as keeping the heat in overnight.

Below I’ve given her two options in colour and style, which also allows for some elements to be mixed and matched. Contrary to popular belief a dark wall will actually make a small room feel larger. By painting the back wall a darker shade it will absorb light ‘pushing’ the wall back and making the space appear bigger. I was glad she went for the forest green and can’t wait to see this space finished! I also gave her some custom options to created a reading nook with shelving now that the crib is freeing up space and tailored these items specifically to her older boy who is on the autism spectrum.

This client was looking for help before the began their bathroom renovations. This old dated space was in desperate need of a freshen up and she wanted planning advice not just on aesthetics but planning the layout as well. I put together a couple floor plan options as well as these mood boards to ensure a highly functioning space for a growing family!

The vibe they were after was modern coastal. These elements are brought in with tiling and flooring options as well as the vanity and accessories.
